Kathisma Beach
Kathisma beach is one of the most popular tourist beaches on Lefkada. It is situated half way down the West Coast, a few minutes drive south of Agios Nikitas Village. The road to the beach is good, and it is used by buses and day trip coaches. There is plenty of car parking beside the beach but it can be VERY busy during the summer and difficult to find space to park.
The beach itself is sand and shingle with a lot of pebbles in places, and can be steeply shelving. Therefore it is advised not to let small children go into the sea alone (this is typical for all beaches on the West coast of Lefkada). Kathisma catches the sun all day from mid-morning until sunset, and the white cliffs behind the beach make the sun even stringer.
To eat and drink there are plenty of tavernas, bars and restaurants on the beach; and even a few swimming pools!
You will notice that the beach is always busiest at the North end and in the centre. It is a pity because the nicest part of the beach is at the South end, and this is where it is usually quietest. So if you don’t like crowds, load music and screaming children (!) walk to the south end and around the corner past the rocks. This is the beginning of the next beach – Kalamitsi North.
